What ever happend to enjoying a day without TV?  Growing up we didn't have a tv until I was 12 years old and even after we had one I  was only alllowed to watch it a small number of hours per day (I remember so clearly being excited sunday evening because Disney World was on)

It's all changed, according to the pugh group, the average child watches 3 hours of tv, what's more the number has been growing since 198

A significant number of children after 1980 watched more TV

Reasons cited for increased TV were:

  1. Two working parents
  2. Increased access
  3. lack of options

Furthermore the report when on to state

While we are concerned in general about TV watching the biggest concern is it's link to obesity

Remember, the table predicted these results

But if TV really is the enemy than who is the friend?  According to several experts it may turn out to be the iPhone.  Millions of kids are now happily thumbing and pinching their way through the day.  With the next found exterity in their fingers they have now become the kids of the 24th century
